From VR headsets to 3D Touch, when one phone maker happens upon an innovative new idea, it’s usually the case that everyone else then rushes to keep up with a version of their own.
The pressure-sensitive displays are one of the key new features on this year’s iPhones, allowing you to press harder on the screen to access extra functions, and we’ve already seen the tech mimicked on the likes of the Huawei Mate S.
According to GizmoChina, the main Android phone makers from China are all rushing to join the party too: Xiaomi, Meizu, Oppo and Vivo all have some version of the technology in the pipeline, inside sources say.
Just a touch
The report also hints that the Nexus phone HTC is supposedly building for Google this year will also get a pressure-sensitive display: it’s just a rumour for now but it’s one that makes sense.
We know that “variable force sensing” technology is already available to phone manufacturers if they want it – it’s now just a question of how quickly they can get it added to their handsets for a reasonable cost.
And while we didn’t see any 3D Touch-style features on the new Samsung Galaxy S7 or LG G5, if the major Chinese firms were to add the technology, then the big players in South Korea would be likely to follow suit.

"mimicked on the Huawei mate s"… I'm pretty sure Huawei brought pressure sensitive displays to their phones before apple did.
I know the name of Huawei's version isn't called 3D Touch I know, I give other types of pressure sensitive displays the 3D Touch moniker because that's what my 6s Plus uses. I know Huawei's version is called Force Touch.
3D Touch = Apples newest Retina name hype.
As you clearly stated, Huawei's phone was actually first. It's just a pressure sensitive display. You don't HAVE to give all other displays of this type the 3D Touch moniker.
So says the fandroid, you when it comes to Android you'll lap it up. Clearly you haven't used 3D Touch on a 6s or 6s Plus, it's early days with 3D Touch. I know I've used 3D Touch as I've just got a 6s Plus.
Not interested. Don't see the difference between a harder press or a long press. Just a gimmick.
Sorry about that, it's just the inner Apple and iPhone fan in me, I'll give my reasons why I think 3D Touch is going to something special when its potential is realised, for one just thing if they can modify it to able to edit documents without having to go into your documents, I'll admit 3D Touch is still in its infancy, and seems a little gimmicky right now, but like all new technology, it takes time for its potential to be fully utilised.
Huawei released their own version of 3D Touch a week before Apple. But I think 3D Touch will get better as its own in it's infancy right now.
Personally If I disagree with someone else's point I tend to try and explain why and put across my structured reasons why I think they are wrong.
You might like to try it some time, instead of inferring insults using childish derogatory names whilst making baseless assumptions about what they have or have not used/done.
