Apple iPhone 7 Plus clones are already available in China, and looks incredibly identical

Like last year, cloned versions of the iPhone 7 smartphones have already hit the Chinese market. They loook incredibly similar in terms of design and even software, but is the clone as good as the original one?

Imitation is the best form of flattery. There are plenty of smartphones that are inspired from Apple‘s iPhones, but then there are some clones too, and are available in the market for a fraction of the price of the original one. Like every year, clones of Apple’s new iPhones, iPhone 7 plus in this case, have hit the China market. These clones look incredibly similar to the original. Not just the form factor has been copied but even managed to have Apple’s iOS 10-replica software.

One such clone of the iPhone 7 Plus has been spotted in China by GizmoChina. According to the report, not only does the cloned iPhone 7 Plus look very similar to the original, but its software imitation is of the latest iOS 10 as well. At the first glance, it is very difficult to differentiate between the two. The clone of the iPhone 7 Plus comes in the rose gold color with the dual-camera setup located at the back of the iPhone. The circular home button is slightly smaller than the original iPhone 7 Plus. The antenna bands are also exactly placed as in the iPhone 7 Plus making the cloned version look more believable.

But what about the performance, is it at par with the original one? Obviously no. After checking out the cloned iPhone 7 Plus, the performance of the dual-cameras did not seem to be anywhere near the original iPhone 7 Plus’ performance. The Touch ID which is embedded in the home button does not work at all and is only placed for show. Although the iOS 10 interface is copied as well, the general performance of the iPhone 7 Plus did not match up to the original at all. The cloned version and the original iPhone 7 Plus were placed together and they both looked very identical to each other. There is also a detailed video of both the iPhones comparing its display and performance against each other.

This is not the first time that an iPhone has been cloned. Last year, just a week before the India launch of the iPhone 6s, a cloned version showed up in the markets. The cloned version of the iPhone 6s was called the Goophone i6S and was available at a price of less than Rs 5,200 approximately. The Goophone i6S looked very identical to the iPhone 6s, which did make it difficult to differentiate between the two.

That said, Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have gone on sale in 30 countries as of today. The much anticipated India launch will take place on October just in time for the festive season. In India, the iPhone 7 price starts at Rs 60,000 and the iPhone 7 Plus starts at Rs 72,000. Both the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are powered by a new A10 Fusion processor, which is a 64-bit quad-core processor which is said to perform 40 percent faster than its predecessors. The iPhones run on iOS 10 out of the box.
