Asus Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe press renders leaked, reveals metal body and 2.5D front and back glass design

Asus seems to be working on two new smartphones, the Asus Zenfone 3 and the Zenfone 3 Deluxe. Leaked press renders of the smartphones offer a glimpse at their design.

After launching a series of Zenfone 2 smartphones last year, Asus has already started working on the Zenfone 3 series. Now, unofficial press renders have surfaced on design site Red Dot 21, which reveals the design of the Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 3 Deluxe smartphones. The leaked renders show off metal frame, 2.5D front and back glass design, USB Type-C port, power button at the back with fingerprint scanner embedded within. The front-facing camera also comes with an LED flash.

In the other render, we have the Zenfone 3 Deluxe version with full metal design and a physical home button on the front, which is likely to double as fingerprint scanner too. The design also shows that Asus has ditched the traditional antenna bands, an approach similar as the Gionee S8. Based on the previous reports, Asus could launch the Zenfone 3 at Computex, which is set to take place in Taipei in May.

Two Asus smartphones with model number Z010DD and Z012D were also spotted on GFXBench, earlier this year. The Z010DD is believed to be the Asus Zenfone 3 sporting a 5.9-inch HD (720p) display. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM, the listing reveals 32GB of internal storage as well. On the camera front, it is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel selfie camera and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

The Z012D, on the other hand, seems to be the premium Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe variant with slightly better hardware. It features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 hexa-core chipset clocked at 1.7GHz paired with 3GB of RAM. With 32GB of internal storage and Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
