Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Out in 2018 for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC: Report

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Call of Duty Black Ops 4 may be out this year
  • It could take place in a modern setting
  • It could come to the Nintendo Switch

In a move that should surprise no one, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is in the works. But what’s interesting is that it’s slated to hit the Nintendo Switch along with the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. According to industry insider and editor Marcus Sellars, it’s a “modern” shooter and is slated to hit this year.

“COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls. The Switch version is also being ported by a company which is familar with COD games,” Sellars tweeted.

Sellars’ track record is solid. In the past he stated Dark Souls and Nintendo Labo would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Throw in the fact that the Call of Duty series cycles between three studios – Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Treyarch, it’s no surprise we’d see a game from Treyarch this year after 2017’s Call of Duty: World War 2 and 2016’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare made by Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward respectively.

Considering how popular Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 still is, it’s no surprise to see Activision continue with games set in the same universe. For Nintendo, it means a return of Call of Duty to its consoles. The last title to grace a Nintendo console was Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Nintendo Wii U back in 2013.
