Coolpad Note 3 Plus with 5.5-inch full HD display launched in India for Rs 8,999: Specifications, features

Coolpad has launched a refreshed version of its Note 3 smartphone called Note 3 Plus. It is equipped with new processor, full HD display, bigger battery and more.

After launching the Note 3 in October last year, Coolpad has today launched a slightly beefed up version of the smartphone. Called Coolpad Note 3 Plus, the smartphone is priced at Rs 8,999. The smartphone will be available in black and white color options on Amazon India starting May 13. Compared to the Note 3, the new smartphone comes with a higher resolution display, new octa-core processor, higher resolution front-facing camera and higher capacity battery.

Coolpad Note 3 Plus specifications and features: The smartphone flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display compared to the HD (720p) display on the Coolpad Note 3. Under the hood, you have MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, paired with Mali-T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM. With internal storage of 16GB, a microSD card slot for further expansion up to 128GB is also present.

In the photography department, the Coolpad Note 3 Plus sports a 13-megpaixel rear sensor with LED flash and a front-facing 8-megpaixel unit. Armed with a 3,000mAh battery, connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual SIM card slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Coolpad’s custom UI running atop. For secured authentication, there is also a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device, just below the camera module.

At this price point, the Note 3 Plus competes with the likes of Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, LG K7 and InFocus M330. The Vibe K5 Plus is priced at Rs 8,499 and comes with a 5-inch full HD display and octa-core processor, but misses out on fingerprint scanner. The LG K7 is priced at Rs 9,500 and features a 5-inch QWVGA display, quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. Besides a gorgeous looking design, it boasts of inferior hardware compared to the competition, and yet is priced higher.

The InFocus M330, on the other hand, sports a 5.5-inch HD display, MediaTek octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM. Rest of the hardware remains the similar to the Note 3 Plus. On paper, the Coolpad Note 3 Plus clearly seems to have an advantage over its competitors, but we will reserve our final judgment until we review the device.
