‘Deep Blue’ iPhone 7: Here’s our best look at Apple’s new colour

A Dutch designer has produced high-quality renders depicting what Apple’s next iPhone might look like if the company adopts the rumoured ‘Deep Blue’ colour. Martin Hajek, who is responsible for the recent iPhone 7 Plus renders and MacBook Pro (2016) renders, posted his latest concept images to his blog, giving us a sneak peek at what the future might hold for Apple’s flagship phone.

Apple has never offered a ‘Deep Blue’ iPhone but, based on these concepts, we’re hoping the rumours come true:

The original ‘Deep Blue’ rumour came courtesy of Japanese tech blog Mac Otakara. The report read:

“As a Deep Blue will be added to the current Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold, it is highly likely that the Space Grey will be discontinued, says the informed source.”

Apple first adopted its Space Grey colour option in 2013 with the launch of the iPhone 5S. The colour has been available for all iPhone models since, save for the iPhone 5C. It’s also offered on other Apple devices like the iPad and the MacBook.

Unfortunately, there’s no way of us actually verifying the alleged ‘Deep Blue’ colour option, or the rumour that Space Grey is being scrapped. Bear in mind that Hajek’s renders aren’t created in partnership with Apple; they’re simply concepts based on leaks.

Apple is expected to reveal the iPhone 7 later this year, at the company’s annual September product launch. We haven’t seen any official details from the firm just yet, but plenty of details have leaked out. The iPhone 7 is rumoured to have no headphone jack, a dual-lens camera (iPhone 7 Plus only), and reduced antenna banding on the back. Overall, we’re not expecting many changes; the big design jump is rumoured for next year’s iPhone 8.
