Far Cry 5 to Be Playable in India for the First Time at IGX 2017

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Far Cry 5 will be playable at IGX 2017 this weekend
  • IGX 2017 takes place on November 18 and 19
  • There will be tournaments for games like FIFA 18 as well

Ubisoft’s open-world shooter Far Cry 5 headlines Indian Games Expo 2017 (IGX 2017). Visitors to IGX 2017 will be able to play the game before it releases on February 27 next year. This follows For Honor, which the company showed off at IGX 2016. This year, IGX will take place on November 18 and 19.

There’s a change of venue as well. Although it will remain in Mumbai, last year’s World Trade Centre in Cuffe Parade gives way to the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Goregaon.

Revealed earlier this year, Far Cry 5 takes place in the US, pitting you against Joseph “The Father” Seed – an American cult leader which the company hopes ends up being as iconic as Vaas from Far Cry 3 and Pagan Min from Far Cry 4. His cult is known as The Project at Eden’s Gate. Early in Far Cry 5’s development, Ubisoft’s developers spent about 14 days visiting Montana. Interestingly, the company’s Pune studio will also be at IGX for a recruitment drive.

Prior to Far Cry 5 and last year’s For Honor, the last time an unreleased game had a public showcase was PS3-exclusive Killzone 2 at the 2008 PlayStation Experience which took place in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.

And if gunning down cultists in rural America isn’t your idea of fun, there will be tournaments for FIFA 18, WWE 2K18, Gran Turismo Sport and Injustice 2 with cash and prizes over Rs 1.5 lakhs.

In addition to this, there’s IGX Game Face — a cosplay competition with Rs. 50,000 worth of prizes. Gadgets 360 will be at IGX 2017 so stay tuned for updates as they happen.
