Google’s robotic arm, Boston Dynamics released a new video showing off the latest Atlas robot that can pick up objects, walk in the snow and get up after a fall. The atlas humanoid is a step ahead in robotics.
Google-owned Boston Dynamics has released a new video of its next-gen Atlas humanoid robot that offers a glimpse at its capabilities. The video shows the robot perform a series tasks such as opening the door, walk in the snow, picking up the boxes and more. It also shows the humanoid robot put through a series of rigorous tests and overcome the obstacles (watch the video embedded below). The video starts with the robot opening the door, head into the woods and walk through the stretch of snow. It does lose its balance while walking through the snow clad terrain, but walks past without falling.
Next, it is made to pick up the boxes of 10lbs each and put them on the shelf, which it does without any hiccups. This shows the amazing balance that Atlas achieves and also the king of agility it has. A Boston Dynamics employee then torments the poor Atlas humanoid by shoving a hockey stick and not allowing it to pick the box.
Lastly, the video also shows the employee knocking over the robot, but soon after the Atlas is down, it does resurrect by picking itself up. Still in its early phase, it does show the great potential in humanoid robots and the infinite possibilities in the future.

For those unaware, Google acquired Boston Dynamics in 2013 and seven other robotics companies in the same year as a part of the search engine giant’s ‘moonshot’ ventures.
