Google Play to soon suggest neglected apps that you need to uninstall

Google Play Store’s new Uninstall Manager feature will tell you which apps you should delete when your smartphone is running out of storage.

Don’t you just hate it when you are about to install a new cool app but cannot because your storage on your smartphone is almost full? Getting that “not enough storage space” prompt and then trying to figure out which apps should be deleted is definitely not a nice feeling. Well, Google is finally going to address this problem with its feature called ‘Uninstall Manager’, which will suggest you the apps you should delete from your smartphone to have more storage. This means that whenever you are running out of storage, the Play Store will provide you a list of the apps that are least used by you, according to the order of weight. In simpler words, say you need to download a new app or game and the space on your smartphone is tight, Google Play will show you the apps that you haven’t used for quite some time and will also allow you to delete such apps directly from that menu and create the much needed space.

Right now it is not clear when the feature will be live for all users or initially be rolled out with select users. According to Android Police, the feature was spotted in an APK teardown about nine months ago.

Google’s new feature comes at a time when most of the smartphones are getting rid of microSD slots as well as apps are getting bigger in size. While users with smartphones with higher storage don’t have to worry much, but those with lower storage devices have to constantly monitor the space. Google’s new feature is not only going to help users but also encourage developers to lighten their apps which could be recommended for deletion by the Play Store.

US-based Nextbit had launched its Robin smartphone with similar features for internal storage management. The Robin smartphone comes with a smart storage, which allows users to back up apps and other content on the device when the internal storage on the device is full.
