Google’s new pop-up lets you try Pixel first

Google isn’t know for brick-and-mortar locales, namely because it doesn’t really have any.

That’s about to change, however, as the search giant is introducing a pop-up experience at 96 Spring St. in New York City later this month.

Scheduled to open its doors on October 20 – the same day the new flagship Pixel and Pixel XL phones hit store shelves – the pop-up will serve as a way for the public to go hands on with the new handsets as well as other hardware.

That other hardware is everything else announced at Google’s October 4 press event, namely Google Wifi, Daydream View, Chromecast Ultra, and the search giant’s Amazon Echo competitor, Google Home.

While you can’t actually buy anything at the NYC pop-up, you can learn about where and when to purchase the hardware. Google doesn’t plan on opening other pop-up locations at this time, though perhaps the success of this one will lead to more down the line, especially as the company seems keen to build more and more hardware.

If anything, this will give customers a chance to try out Google’s latest wares before they arrive on doorsteps everywhere. Anyone who visits 96 Spring St. from October 20 on will leave with a few bragging rights, at least.

Not stylish? I think the pixels are beautiful in their simplicity. Want garish, then get a Samsung.
