HTC Nexus 2016 ‘Sailfish’ mock-up renders reveal fun color options

The mockup renders offer a glimpse at color options the HTC Nexus Sailfish could come with.

HTC is rumored to launch two Nexus smartphones codenamed Sailfish and Marlin, later this year. These smartphones have already been spotted on benchmark listings, revealing some of its specifications and features. Earlier this week, we also came across leaked render offering first glimpse at the HTC Nexus 2016 ‘sailfish’ smartphone. Now, a redittor took the earlier leaked image render and edited it in three new colors – white, red and silver, just for fun.

From what we can see in the renders, the smartphone seems to have taken design cues from Huawei-made Nexus 6P and HTC’s latest flagship smartphone, the HTC 10. It also looks a little inspired from the company’s Desire-series smartphones. While these aren’t official renders, they sure make the device look nice.

Together with the two-tone look and gentle curve around the edges, the back panel has Google’s G-logo and a fingerprint scanner. We would like to remind readers that it is just a mock-up and by no means a leak.

According to rumors, the HTC Nexus Sailfish could be called Nexus 5P. It is expected to feature a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display and could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 or Snapdragon 823 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. With 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel selfie camera, a 2,770mAh battery is also expected. On the software front, it is likely to run Android Nougat out-of-the-box.

HTC is also reportedly working on a slightly larger smartphone called Marlin, which could house a 5.5-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 or Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and two storage options — 32GB and 128GB. With 12-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie camera and bottom-firing speakers a 3,450mAh battery and USB Type-C port are expected. Similar to Sailfish, Marlin is also likely to run Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
