HTC Nexus Sailfish specifications, features leaked on benchmarking website

The HTC Nexus Sailfish is the more affordable variant of the two smartphones launching this year. A benchmarking site has now revealed the kind of specifications and features it could come with.

Google’s upcoming Nexus smartphones haven’t been averse to rumors and leaks. It’s almost an open secret that Google has tasked HTC to develop two Nexus smartphones this year, and they are reportedly codenamed Marlin and Sailfish. Of the two, the Sailfish is expected to be the less expensive and a benchmark website has given us a glimpse at the sort of specifications and features it could boast.

Unlike the recent Nexus launches, Google seems to be going with a strategy that is somewhat similar to Apple. Both the Marlin and Sailfish smartphones are expected to feature a similar design and there will only be a few differences on the specifications and features front. Both devices are also expected to run on Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box. While Google hasn’t made anything official, recent reports suggest that the latest OS could be released as early as this month.

HTC Nexus Sailfish specifications

As per the benchmark listing, the Nexus Sailfish will feature a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. It will also offer 32GB storage, and will come with a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. These specs are in line with previous leaks, which added that the Sailfish will feature a 3,000mAh battery, a fingerprint scanner at the back, a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

As for the HTC Nexus Marlin, it is expected to feature a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 paired with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB and 128GB storage options. It is also likely to feature a 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie camera, a 3,450mAh battery, and USB Type-C port.
