Huawei Watch launched in India for Rs 22,999 exclusively on Flipkart: Specifications and features

Huawei has launched its Android Wear smartwatch, the Huawei Watch in India. Priced at Rs 22,999, it will be exclusively available via Flipkart starting today.

Huawei unveiled the Android Wear running Huawei Watch at IFA 2015 last year, and now the company has officially launched the smartwatch in India. Priced at Rs 22,999, the Huawei Watch will be exclusively available on Flipkart starting today. Touted as world’s first Sapphire crystal Android Wear smartwatch, it is also one of the smartwatches besides Asus ZenWatch 2 with speaker support to make and receive calls.

Huawei Watch specifications and features: It sports a 42mm diameter, a full circle 1.4-inch AMOLED display running at 400×400 pixels resolution and pixel density of 286ppi. The display is covered with Sapphire crystal screen to keep scratches at bay. At the heart of the Huawei Watch runs a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 Processor paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

Armed with a 300mAh battery, Huawei claims is good enough to offer up to two days of regular use. With connectivity options such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 LE, it runs on Android Wear Marshmallow update, and is compatible with Android and iOS smartphones.

Pre-loaded with 40 watch faces, the Huawei Watch also includes support for voice commands. You can use these voice commands to start music, search for destination and call contacts among others. There’s also a ‘find my phone’ feature which can help you in locating missing phone.

The Huawei Watch comes equipped with a 6-axis sensor for fitness tracking, along with a heart rate sensor. It can distinguish between different activities such as walking, running and climbing, Huawei claims. Huawei Watch also boasts IP67 water and dust resistance, which means you can submerge it under one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

At this price point, the Huawei Watch will compete with the likes of Motorola Moto 360 (2nd generation), Apple Watch and Samsung Gear S2. The Moto 360 (2nd generation) is priced at Rs 22,499, runs on Android Wear OS, but misses out on the speaker support. After the recent price cut, the Apple Watch Sport is now available for Rs 25,900. It runs on Apple’s WatchOS and is only compatible with iPhones.

Lastly, the Samsung Gear S2 is priced at Rs 24,300, runs on TizenOS and is compatible with Android and iOS devices. One of the key highlights of the Gear S2 is that it features an intuitive rotating bezel that can be used to navigate through the user interface. However, TizenOS ecosystem does not have as many apps as the Android Wear OS.
