Is Xiaomi planning to launch the Mi Band 2 with the Mi Max in India tomorrow?

Looks like Xiaomi could spring in a big surprise by launching the Mi Band 2 in India tomorrow.

Earlier this month in China, Xiaomi took the wraps off its highly anticipated Mi Band 2 fitness tracker. Priced around Rs 1,500, the fitness band brings in a host of new features including an OLED display, heart rate sensor and improved design. Even though Xiaomi hasn’t officially announced when the Mi Band 2 will launch in India, it looks like the company may launch the wearable tomorrow alongside the Mi Max phablet and MIUI 8.

The Xiaomi Mi Max event is set to take place in New Delhi tomorrow at 11:30AM. Ahead of the event, VP Hugo Barra tweeted a link from where one can watch the live streaming. He also posted a photo of a jumbo ice cream, representing the ‘MAX’. Now, if you look closer, the photo also shows off a person wearing the Mi Band 2, which could be a hint about the possible launch of the much-awaited fitness band. Xiaomi is known to make some surprise announcements at its launch events. Last time the company had launched a Mi Bluetooth speaker alongside the Redmi Note 3, and the same could happen this time around.

The Mi Band 2 offers a 20-day battery life, Bluetooth 4.0 for faster connectivity and an OLED display along with a physical button that lets you view the number of steps you walked, calories burned, heart rate, sleep and more. The Mi Band 2 can also nudge you to move around at regular intervals, better for people who have desk jobs. With IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, the Mi Band 2 also lets you unlock your smartphone without having to put any pass codes or fingerprint.

Xiaomi Mi Max specifications, features: The phablet sports a 6.44-inch full HD (1080p) display. Under the hood, you get either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 with 32GB onboard storage variant or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 chipset with 64GB and 128GB storage variants. Also, while the base variant comes with 3GB of RAM, the top end variant is equipped with 4GB of RAM.

In the photography department, you get 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Armed with a 4,850mAh battery and support for Quick Charging, connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 4G LTE with VoLTE connectivity. In China, the base variant costs Rs 15,300, whereas the top end variant is priced at Rs 20,500. However, details about Indian pricing are scarce.
