LeEco’s next smartphone could feature dual-camera setup

LeEco is reportedly sourcing the dual-camera modules from Samsung Electro Mechanics.

It seems as if almost every company these days wants to have a dual-camera setup on their smartphones. We have already seen the likes of LG G5, Huawei P9 (Leica certified) sporting two cameras at the back, while the likes of Apple and Samsung too are expected to use a similar setup in their upcoming smartphones. Turns out, LeEco doesn’t want to be left behind and plans on integrating a dual-camera setup on its next smartphone as well.

An alleged back panel of a yet-to-be launched LeEco smartphone has surfaced online, courtesy of PhoneRadar, which shows a strange looking dual-camera setup that looks more like a human face. The back panel also includes a cutout for the fingerprint scanner, LeEco logo, and antenna lines at the top and bottom edges, something similar to what we saw on the Meizu Pro 6.

The LeEco smartphone in question is likely to be the recently leaked LEX720, which was spotted on a benchmarking site. As per the listing, this device will feature a 1080p display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 823 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. On the software front, it will run on Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

LeEco is hosting an event tomorrow in Beijing, but it is clearly too early for the company to launch this leaked smartphone. Qualcomm, after all is yet to launch the Snapdragon 823 chipset. This leak comes a day after reports suggested that Samsung Electro Mechanics will be supplying the dual-camera modules to LeEco. The likes of Xiaomi and OPPO too are said to be working on smartphones with dual-camera setup, they too will procure modules from Samsung.
