Lenovo Vibe P1 Android Marshmallow 6.0 update starts rolling out in India

Lenovo has started seeding Android Marshmallow 6.0 update for the Vibe P1, which brings in features like Doze mode, refreshed Google Now and new app permissions among others.

After the likes of K3 Note and A7000 smartphones, Lenovo has quietly started rolling out Android Marshmallow 6.0 update for the Vibe P1. Lenovo launched the Vibe P1 towards the end of last year, and its USP is the massive 5,000mAh battery. Besides the latest Android version, Android security patches for the month of March are also includes as a part of the update.

Lenovo announced the roll out of the Android Marshmallow 6.0 update on its official forums. “We expect Marshmallow to be rolling out for the Vibe P1, P1A42, over the next few days,” the post reads. Scrolling down the post shows users in India reporting that they have started receiving the Marshmallow update on their phones.

Users are reporting about getting a notification for an update, called S263_160427_ROW. The update is 1.67GB in size so we would advise you to be connected to a Wi-Fi network. This seems to be a phased roll out and you might have to wait a bit to get the notification. In the meanwhile you can head over to Settings -> About Phone -> System updates and click on ‘Check for update’ to manually check if your device is ready for the update.

The OS update brings with it Android Marshmallow 6.0 goodies like Google Now on Tap for contextual search, Doze mode to hibernate the background apps when the smartphone is not in use for some time and new app permissions to control the information you share with apps.

Lenovo Vibe P1 price, specifications, features

Lenovo had launched the Vibe P1 last year for Rs 15,999, and the smartphone is now available online for around Rs 15,499. The talking point is the massive 5,000mAh battery, which also comes with quick charging capabilities. It also supports OTG charging, which essentially turns the handset into a power bank.

The Lenovo Vibe P1 features a 5.5-inch 1080p display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage, along with microSD card slot.

The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, fingerprint sensor, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and GPS.
