Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary update starts rolling out

After PCs, Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 10 Anniversary updates for Windows 10 Mobile. It is a steady roll out, and not all smartphones will get the update on day one.

Microsoft is finally rolling out its Windows 10 Anniversary update for mobile users. Earlier this month the Windows 10 Anniversary update was rolled out for PCs and was expected for smartphones as well but the delay went on to two weeks. The devices which run on Windows 10 Mobile will be receiving the updates first. Smartphone users can manually check for updates by following this process — Settings -> Update and security -> Phone update -> Check for updates.

Although the update has been released, Microsoft says the roll out is in phases. There are also several factors like manufacturer, region and network operator that will play a role in when your smartphone gets the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary update. In other words, not all smartphones will receive the update from day one. The update being rolled out is recognized by the build number 10.0.14393.67, and GSMArena says the update is 943MB in size. The new update brings with it quite a few new features and improvements including rich notifications, notification sync and a Skype app built on the Universal Windows Platform.

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update recently rolled out for PCs brought new functionalities to Cortana and also improved Edge Browser. The update also brought in improvements to Windows Ink Workspace, and also added new pen apps like Sketchpad, Screen sketch, and Sticky Note.

In a recent blog post, Microsoft has also revealed that it will be bringing two major updates for Windows 10 next year. The company added that the latest Windows 10 feature update released will be the last feature update and two additional features can be expected in 2017.
