Moto Z Play with Snapdragon 652 SoC, 3GB of RAM spotted on GeekBench

The Moto Z Play could be the affordable variant of the Moto Z with the same modular functionality.

Earlier this month, Lenovo unveiled the Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones at Tech World event in San Francisco. One of the USPs of these smartphones is the mods that one can snap on the back for adding new functionality. Now, while the Moto Z with mods will launch in India by October, an unannounced Moto Z smartphone has been spotted on benchmarking site GeekBench.

Carrying a model number Motorola XT1635-01, the smartphone was spotted running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 (msm8953) octa-core processor clocked at 2.02GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM. Before the event, Lenovo was expected to announce another smartphone called the Moto X Play, which could be this device.

The alleged Moto Z Play was also put through paces where it logged a score of 884 and 4464 in single-core and multi-core tests. From past rumors, the Moto Z Play is expected to feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display, a 3,000mAh battery, and a 16-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

While other details about the launch and availability of the Moto Z Play are missing, we expect to hear more about this device closer to September, when the smartphone will first go on sale in some countries.
