OnePlus 3 leak hints at a bigger battery than OnePlus 2 and fast charging capabilities

Leaks suggest that the OnePlus 3 could come with a battery that lasts a day and can be charged quickly as well.

We are already getting a fair idea about what to expect from the OnePlus 3 courtesy of numerous leaks. While there is still little clarity on when we could see the launch of the flagship smartphone, details about the smartphone continue to trickle out. The latest one sheds some light on the OnePlus 3′s battery.

The OnePlus 3, a report suggests, could feature a 3,500mAh battery, which is a slight improvement over the 3,300mAh battery on the OnePlus 2. The battery life was a big concern on the OnePlus 2, and when reviewing the device, we would often have to hunt for the charger by the end of the day. With the upgrade, we hope the battery is good enough to last the entire day.

Another one of our concerns was the lack of QuickCharge support on the OnePlus 2, but reports again suggest that it could change on the OnePlus 3. Recently the company trademarked the term ‘Dash Charge’, which could be its in-house fast charging technology. OnePlus could be following the on the path of Qualcomm, OPPO and Samsung, which have their own fast charging technologies called Quick Charge, VOOC and Fast Charge respectively.

OnePlus 3 specifications, features: The OnePlus 3 is expected to be launched in two variants — the standard variant with 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage, and a premium variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.

Both variants were recently spotted on a benchmarking site revealing specifications like 5-inch full HD (1080p) display, Snapdragon 820 chipset, a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphones are also expected to include connectivity options like 4G LTE support and NFC, and run on Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system.

While OnePlus hasn’t made an official announcement, it is said to be hosting an even in China on May 28, where the OnePlus 3 could be unveiled. It will then go on sale sometime in the first week of June. OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau recently was also quoted as saying that the upcoming OnePlus 3 will be “more expensive than the OnePlus 2.”
