Oppo could be launching the Oppo R9 with 16-megapixel selfie camera in India next month.
Earlier this year, Oppo launched a selfie-focused smartphone in India, called the Oppo F1. BGR India has learnt that the company is now gearing up to launch yet another smartphone in India, which too is targeted at the selfie conscious audience. This is set to be a global launch, and the event is scheduled for the first week of April.
This upcoming Oppo smartphone’s highlight will be its 16-megapixel selfie camera, and 4GB of RAM. It is also set to feature a metal unibody design, ultra-slim bezels, fingerprint scanner, and a battery with Oppo’s own VOCC battery charging technology. Oppo is set to host an event sometime in the first week of April.
While details are scarce at the moment, the specifications match those of the Oppo R9 smartphone, which was launched in China earlier this month. The Oppo R9 is a smartphone targeted at the selfie-conscious audience, boasting a 16-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture up front.
Oppo R9 specifications, features: The smartphone features a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, MediaTek’s Helio P10 octa-core chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB internal storage, along with a microSD card slot to further expand the storage up to 128GB.
It also features a 13-megapixel f/2.2 rear camera, and a 2,850mAh battery with VOOC Flash Charge feature. However, it’s not the Super VOOC charging that Oppo demonstrated at MWC 2016. Connectivity options include dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, and on the software front, it runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Oppo also launched the R9 Plus in China, and it will be interesting to see if it too is launched in India. The Oppo R9 Plus features a 6-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 octa-core chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB and 128GB internal storage options along with microSD card slot.
The phablet features 16-megapixel cameras both at the back as well as the front, 4,120mAh battery with VOOC Flash Charge support, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1.
The Oppo R9 and the Oppo R9 Plus are both priced at CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs 29,300), and CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs 34,700) respectively.
