PS VR envy: US demo disc launch puts Europe to shame with extra games

If you buy a PlayStation VR headset in Europe you’ll get a demo disc containing eight games. That’s pretty cool right?

But if you’re in the US you’ll get a massive twenty games, a whole twelve more than the EU.

The US is getting some pretty major exclusives including Resident Evil 7, Rez Infinite, and fan VR-favorite Job Simulator.

Unequal discs

It’s a shame to see this demo disc be so unequal across different territories, and we’re a little bemused as to why this has happened. We imagine like many of these things it has to do with Sony’s contractual agreements across its different territories.

The demo disc can also be downloaded from the PlayStation Store should anyone lose their physical disc – but we’re not sure yet if these demos will also appear in the European download stores. We’ll update this post once we’ve heard word back from Sony on this matter.

Scroll down for the full list of demos. We’ve bolded the US exclusives to allow you to rage or gloat as you see fit.

Yawn. I think VR is going to be about as popular as smart watches were.

Zen777, Your only saying that because either you have never tried high end VR like the Vive, Rift or upcoming PSVR, or you are unable to afford it and are trying to make yourself feel better. Everyone I show my Vive to or has experianced VR for the first time in my presence have all become believers in its amazing immersiveness. Some like you weren't believers before but once they experianced it 1st hand they understood how incredible it really is. Your obviously not paying any attention to any of the gaming or tech news going on daily. VR is HUGE and there are hundreds of games out already for the Vive and Rift and 50 or so coming out this year for the PSVR. My Gear VR mobile headset had tons of games and experiances as well. VR is all over youtube and every gaming site. VR gaming and all other aspects of VR will be as transformative as smart phones were, and HD tvs. Just wait and see. Although I do admit that things will change once Magic Leap and its unique brand of mixed or augmented reality hits the masses, that technology which is decades ahead of its time, will forever change the world as we know it.
