Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus spec list leak reveals a 6.2-inch monster

There have been numerous leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge (or the Galaxy S8 Plus/S8+ as it’s looking increasingly likely that it will be called), but today’s is perhaps the biggest info dump yet, with a full specs list leaking.

The list, which was shared by reliable leaker Evan Blass, doesn’t tell us much new, but it corroborates a lot of rumors we’d already heard, starting with the presence of a 6.2-inch screen (or 6.1 inches if you stop at the rounded corners rather than counting the full rectangle).

That display will be a QHD+ Super AMOLED one, and above it you’ll find an iris scanner and an 8MP front-facing camera.

Around the back you’ll find a 12MP Dual Pixel camera – note that’s not the same as a dual-lens one. Dual Pixel refers to an improved form of phase detection autofocus, debuted by Samsung on the Galaxy S7 range.

The Galaxy S8 Plus is also apparently IP68 certified dust and water resistant, which is the same level of waterproofing as the Galaxy S7.

Packed with power and storage

It’s also said to have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built in storage, along with a microSD card slot. The S8 Plus also supports wireless charging and Samsung Pay, and it’s 4G LTE capable, as you’d expect.

The list also notes that it’s secured by Samsung’s Knox security service, and that it comes with earphones tuned by audio specialists AKG.

Although not in the list, Blass confirms below that the S8 Plus will use a Snapdragon 835 chipset – though we’d expect that’s only true in the US, with much of the rest of the world likely getting a Samsung Exynos one.

It’s also worth mentioning that we fully expect a fingerprint scanner, despite there being no mention of one here. Leaked images have shown as much and based on the implementation of iris scanning on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 it’s not ready to be the only biometric security on the phone.

As always you should take this specs list with a pinch of salt, but there’s nothing eyebrow-raising about it, so there’s a good chance this is the real deal.

Reveals “almost all” the details? What in that list wasn’t an obvious inclusion right from when the S7 was out!?

It doesn’t mention the battery, the screen resolution, the fingerprint scanner, the processor, the battery life, the android version. Kinda key details….

All it shows is what we already knew was a virtual certainty.

This is as boring as the iPhone. Nothing new. Samsungs rubbish version of AI included. Also a fingerprint sensor in the wrong place. No always on Google now. I’m due an upgrade but I’m not getting this.
