Samsung Galaxy S9 may be able to shoot incredible slow-mo

Rumor has it Samsung is set to expand its slow-motion camera features for the upcoming Galaxy S9 flagship phone.

A new rumor suggests the phone may come with a camera capable of 1,000 frames per second to be able to shoot super high quality slow-mo footage.

Korean tech site ET News cites industry sources that say the company is set to start production on a new camera in November. The report doesn’t share any further details on whether the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus will feature a dual-sensor camera.

Samsung may also be building its new camera in a similar way to how Sony created its incredible Xperia XZ Premium shooter that can handle up to 960 frames per second.

Slow it right down

Sony has patented this three-layer design that’s used though, so Samsung is going to instead merge it into two to be able to make it possible.

Right now we can’t be certain if this rumor is accurate, and we don’t expect to see Samsung announce the Galaxy S9 until at least the start of 2018 and it’s heavily rumored to be launching in March next year.

If Samsung does pack this slow-mo camera into the Galaxy S9 it’ll beat the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8 and all three new Apple handsets – including the iPhone X – and may even have a chance at beating the current top end Sony phones too.
