Snowden: ‘Everybody at NSA just stopped working’ to watch the promo of Oliver Stone’s movie

Edward Snowden takes a jab at NSA by tweeting about the trailer of his upcoming biopic.

It’s been nearly three years since Edward Snowden; the former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor exposed the US government’s mass surveillance programs that has changed the way Americans think about the government. With charges of theft of government property on him, Snowden now lives at an undisclosed location in Russia. However, that doesn’t stop director Oliver Stone from making a thriller based on NSA whistleblower’s life.

Starring, Joseph Gordon-Levitt the movie depicts Snowden’s life – from childhood to the current situation. The first trailer of the movie, a 2:39-minute video is already out and it will sure give you some goosebumps. Soon after the trailer was out, Snowden took a cheeky jab at NSA with a tweet — “For two minutes and thirty-nine seconds, everybody at NSA just stopped working.”

The trailer starts with Snowden’s time in Army Reserve training and offers a glimpse into his journey of getting into the NSA, and collecting crucial files of government spying on ordinary citizens. He’s shown using a Rubik’s cube to sneak out of the security checkpoint with an SD card that is filled with illegally downloaded data.

The movie also stars Zachary Quinto who plays the role of Glenn Greenwald, whom Snowden trusted with NSA’s spying data, and Shailene Woodley who plays the role of Lindsay Mills, his girlfriend. The promo ends with some intense, high-tension scenes where Snowden’s identity gets revealed. After being delayed for over a year, the movie is set to release on September 16.
