Stardew Valley is cropping up on consoles next month

Beloved PC farming adventure Stardew Valley is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in December, developer Eric Barone has announced.

The PS4 version will launch in North America on December 13, and a day later in Europe. The Xbox One release will follow on December 14 in both territories.

You can expect each platform to receive a slew of trophies and achievements alongside, with any luck, a few new features.

There were originally plans to port the PC exclusive to Nintendo Wii U, but this has now been scrapped in favour of a Switch version to come in 2017.

“Stardew Valley will not be coming to the Wii U, however,” reads a recent announcement. “Looking at Wii U and the current gaming landscape, we made the difficult choice to shift our development efforts to creating a version for Nintendo Switch.

“I am really looking forward to the Switch, and I believe that the Switch’s unique capabilities could create some exciting opportunities for Stardew Valley. I do want to emphasize that I am absolutely committed to seeing Stardew Valley on Nintendo platforms, and I really do appreciate your support and understanding in this.”

Stardew Valley is an utterly charming 2D adventure that has you constructing your own farm in a humble countryside town.

Inspired by the likes of Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing, you can make friends, get married and even adopt a dog.

Those looking for a cute timesink just in time for the Christmas period cannot go wrong with this.
