The most anticipated Mac in years ‘confirmed’ for October 27

Apple’s rumoured Mac launch will indeed take place on October 27, new reports claimed on Tuesday.

Recode’s Ina Fried said she had received confirmation from sources, less than a week after the date was first floated online.

The publication in question is usually on the money in these circumstances so we have no reason to be believe it won’t be the case this time around. However, it is yet to be officially confirmed by Apple and plans are always subject to change.

The long-anticipated event is likely to see a refreshed 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 laptops, which could be a much greater departure from recent editions.

Speculation has suggested a design overhaul with a touch sensitive OLED panel replacing the function keys and USB Type-C replacing the MagSafe connector.

There’s also a suggestion the MacBook Air 13-inch might see an update with USB-C ports. The 11-inch version may have reached the end of its mortal coil, judging by recent rumblings.
