This Samsung smartphone won’t be coming to Europe, apparently

It looks like one of Samsung’s upcoming smartphones won’t be landing in the UK, or Europe for that matter.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) has been rumoured for a while, but it seems as though it may skip over Europe when it eventually leaks. At least that’s what Samsung Austria’s support page for the new Gear S3 smartwatch appears to suggest.

The support page features a list of devices that the Gear S3 is compatible with, including the unreleased 2017 iterations of the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5. But the Samsung Galaxy A7 is missing, which could mean that rumours of existence are wrong, or that the Gear S3 won’t support it when it eventually launches – but that wouldn’t make sense.

Samsung first launched the upper mid-range Galaxy A-series last year, releasing all the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7 in Europe. But for 2016, Samsung chose not to release an upgraded version of the Galaxy A7 in Europe, despite the Galaxy A3 and A5 making their way to UK shores. And it seems Samsung is looking to take a similar approach next year with the new Galaxy A7 too.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 has been heavily leaked by specialist blog Sammobile over recent months, with Samsung reportedly hard at work on the phone ahead of next year’s launch. The handset is tipped to feature an Exynos 7870 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage, as well as a 16-megapixel camera and a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display.

Of course, Samsung hasn’t actually confirmed any details about a new version of the Galaxy A7 for 2017, despite the rumours. So perhaps Samsung is keeping a lid on the phone with regards to Gear S3 support. And it’s worth noting that Samsung may not have made the final decision on whether or not the launch the Galaxy A7 in Europe – it could still happen, since we’re potentially a long way from the release.

We’ve asked Samsung for comment, and will update this article with any response.
