This video demos how to drill 3.5mm headphone jack in iPhone 7, but it’s a prank

A video posted by a video blogger shows how he drilled the iPhone 7 to add a 3.5mm audio jack. The comments which follow show that people actually tried it.

Wonders cannot cease when it comes to people being stupid. The surprises and astonishment over how people can get to such levels of stupidity only get bigger with the internet being the main source of presenting us with such idiotic people. Pardon my bantering, but once you come to know why exactly these words were poured out, we would share the same feelings. The victim here is the recently launched Apple’s iPhone 7. When Apple launched the next generation iPhones, it also announced the sad demise of the 3.5mm headphone jack which not only disappointed many people but also proved how it can be a real inconvenience. A tech video blogger TechRax decided to prank iPhone 7 users by telling them how to get a headphone jack on their iPhones.

The video was posted on YouTube, and it already has eight million views. The video blogger begins by explaining how iPhone 7 users can ditch Apple’s AirPods which can easily be lost and people can step on then. Saying that he has the solution to how you can fix it, he begins the demonstration. He places the iPhone 7 on an iron clamp so that it remained intact. Once he places, the iPhone, the display starts going a little haywire and to add more humor, he very seriously confirms that the display buzzing is fine and it means that one is on the right path to getting a headphone jack. The blogger advises to use a 3.5mm drill to get the right audio jack. He then starts drilling and when he’s done he takes out a pair of headphones and plugs them in the drilled audio jack. After this, he goes to YouTube and plays a video, the video playback can be heard on loudspeaker. Surprisingly, nothing bad happens to the iPhone 7, not with the display or with the functioning of the iPhone.

This is where the stupidity comes. When you scroll down the comments section of the video, there are quite a good number of people who have commented saying that they’ve actually tried doing it but the audio jack did not work. People have explained very clearly how they followed the said instructions and did not get the desired result. One user says, “Hi, I’ve just done this but there is no sound coming from the headphones. I used an exact 3.5mm drill bit but the connector doesn’t sit flush in the hole for some reason. The phone doesn’t even detect the headphones are in. Are there any settings I need to change?”

Here’s a hilarious one – “I can’t ******* believe you. I got an iPhone 7 for my birthday and I saw your video and I tried to use a drill to reopen the sealed headphone jack. It completely destroyed my phone and I had to make my mom go out and buy me a new one. She told me that she would only do it if I would mow the yard for the next few weeks. **** you and your cancerous channel, I have to mow my yard because you are a ******* troll.”

One thing to be noted here however is that these are only comments made on the video. There have been no pictures or videos posted by these users which prove that they have tried it out. It could be some people just trying to troll the YouTuber himself. Nevertheless, if it were to be true then, God save them.
