Truecaller for Android update now tells you when your friends are available, integrates Truedialer

Truecaller app for Android has been updated with a new dialer and features like Smart Call History and Availability.

Truecaller for Android has received an update today bringing along a new dialer along with features like Smart Call History and Availability. Truecaller boasts one of the biggest phone number databases. With the latest update, Truecaller app is getting Truedialer-like features, and the standalone dialer could be phased out altogether. The latest version of Truecaller app is now available on the Google Play Store.

One of the highlight features is the introduction of a dialer app in the main Truecaller app itself. The advantage is that you will be able to place calls directly from within the app. This is however an optional feature, and you can always revert to the default dialer to place calls.

The smart call history essentially replaces all unknown numbers in your call history with real names and faces from the Truecaller database. Furthermore, it is also bringing a social element to its dialer app with the Availability feature. With this, there will be a small green or red dot alongside your contacts to tell if they are available or not. This chat app-like feature though only works if your contacts too have Truecaller app installed on their phones.

“Truecaller has become a necessity for hundreds of millions of people in their daily communication by always knowing who’s calling them and protecting them against spam calls. We are now taking this to the next level by changing the way people make phone calls with our integrated dialer and adding more context to your contacts that has never been seen before.” Alan Mamedi, Truecaller co-founder and CEO said.

This new update comes after the company lunched the TrueSDK last month. This SDK essentially let third-party app developers oboard new users on the basis of their Truecaller profile.
