Game director Hajime Tabata has detailed some of the new features and changes coming to Final Fantasy 15.

Tabata provided some brief information on the updates set to hit Final Fantasy 15 in the near future, all of which will be available for free separate from previously announced DLC.

“We want you to enjoy Final Fantasy XV for a long time to come,” he said on the Square Enix blog. “We have been listening to your ideas on how to make the game experience even better, and so in addition to the previously announced content, we’ll be providing free updates to the game throughout the coming year.”

While Tabata didn’t detail any specific changes, there are plans to “enrich certain aspects of the game” with “enhancements” such as buffs to ring magic and other abilities.

In addition to gameplay-specific tweaks, Square Enix also hopes to flesh out the game’s narrative with further cutscenes.

“After that, we’re hoping to delve deeper into the story, adding scenes that will give you new insight into character motivations, such as why Ravus walked the path he did. We will need a little time with these, as they’ll need to be localized and voiced in other languages, but we’ll let you know the details once everything is set.”

Final Fantasy 15 launched last week to positive critical reception and commercial success, shipping 5 million copies in its first 24 hours.

Unfortunately, it only managed to sell 693,000 units in first week in Japan, a 56 percent drop when compared to Final Fantasy 13.
