With the launch of desktop app, WhatsApp has entered the club of apps like Line, Telegram, etc, which have been offering native desktop to clients for quite some time.

Here is a guide on how to download and use the WhatsApp desktop app:

You can download the app from the official website WhatsApp.com. Install the app once it’s downloaded.

You will see the QR scan code once you open the app. Scan the code with the WhatsApp on your mobile as you used to do for WhatsApp web. (The WhatsApp web option appears once you click the settings -three dots – on the top right side of android WhatsApp and in setting of WhatsApp for iPhone)

Once the scan is done, your mobile WhatsApp syncs with the app on desktop, and you can start chatting as usual.

WhatsApp says that because the app runs natively on the desktop, it will have support for native desktop notifications, better keyboard shortcuts, and more.

Just note that the WhatsApp on desktop is still mirroring content from your smartphone, so you’ll need a constant data connection to continue chatting. If you’re on a limited data pack, better use the WiFi to access WhatsApp from the desktop.
