Xiaomi Mi Max phablet with 6.44-inch display launched in China: Price, specifications and features

The Xiaomi Mi Max phablet with metal unibody design, 6.44-inch full HD display and fingerprint scanner has been launched in China.

At an event in China, Xiaomi has taken the wraps off its Mi Max phablet with 6.44-inch full HD (1080p) display. One of the talking points of the phablet is its slim body with thickness of 7.5mm and weighing just 203g. The phablet comes with a metal unibody design and also features a fingerprint scanner at the back. It will be offered in three colors, silver, gold and dark grey.

Xiaomi Mi Max price: The Mi Max will be offered in three storage variants. The Snapdragon 650 powered 32GB storage and 3GB of RAM will set you back by CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs 15,350). On the other hand, the Snapdragon 652 powered Mi Max with 64GB storage and 3GB of RAM costs CNY 1,699 (approximately Rs 17,500), whereas the top end version with Snapdragon 652 SoC, 128GB storage and 4GB of RAM costs CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs 20,500). However, there is no word on the pricing and availability outside China.

Xiaomi Mi Max specifications and features: The phablet is equipped with a 6.44-inch full HD (1080p) display. At the heart of the phablet runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor which includes two Cortex-A72 cores and four A53 cores paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. There is also other variant powered by Snapdragon 652 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB storage, and a slightly higher variant with 4GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage. A microSD card slot for further expansion is also available. We’ve already seen the processor at work on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 which destroys Snapdragon 808, Snapdragon 810 and MediaTek’s Helio X10 in AnTuTu benchmark.

For casual photographers, the Mi Max is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera along with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. On the front, there is an 5-megpaixel 85-degrees wide-angle selfie camera for photos and video calling.

The Mi Max is armed with a 4,850mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims is decent enough to offer full day worth talktime. It also includes Qualcomm’s Quick Charge support to quickly charge the device. In terms of connectivity, the Mi Max features 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and Bluetooth.
