Apple Watch Sport variants have received a Rs 5,000 price cut in India.
At the Apple iPhone SE launch event earlier this week, the company also announced new bands for the Apple Watch and a price cut. Now BGR India has learnt that Apple Watch is also receiving a price cut in India. Apple is announcing a Rs 5,000 price cut, and it is only restricted to the Apple Watch Sport variants. After the cut, prices for the smartwatch will start from Rs 25,900 onwards.
The Apple Watch Sport was launched in India last year, priced at Rs 30,900 for the 38mm variant and Rs 34,900 for the 42mm variant. After the price cut, the smartwatch is available for Rs 25,900 and Rs 29,900 respectively. We reached out to the likes of Maple and Reliance Digital stores in Mumbai, and at the time of filing the story the price cut hasn’t been made live yet.
The price cut however is not applicable on the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition variants. The Apple Watch is still available for Rs 48,900 and Rs 52,900 respectively, while the Edition variant is available for Rs 820,000 and Rs 990,000 respectively.
The Apple Watch is slowly catapulting the smartwatch industry into mainstream. A recent Juniper report suggested that nearly half of all smartwatches shipped last year was an Apple Watch. According to the report, a total of 17.1 million smartwatches were sold worldwide, of which 8.8 million were Apple Watches.
