Asus Zenbo home robot launched at Computex 2016; priced at $599

Asus Zenbo could be your real world BB-8 robot as well as a smart assistant for your daily tasks.

Alongside the new Asus Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe and the Zenfone 3 Ultra smartphones, Asus also launched a new home robot called Zenbo. The robot can be connected with smart home devices, and lets you do several tasks such as take pictures and shop online among others. The multi-tasking home robot Zenbo is available for $599, which is Rs 40,300.

The Zen Robot, which the company has smartly abbreviated as Zenbo, can wander independently in your house and can take directions via voice commands. The mechanism of the Zenbo is very similar to Amazon’s voice-based assistant Echo. Zenbo’s face acts like a touchpad interface and can help you make video calls, shop online, as well as stream video content. Users can use the Zenbo to shop online as well. Not just that, the home robot can even help you logging into an account by using voice commands. Another thing that the robot can do is that it can actually follow you when you say ‘ Hey Zenbo, follow me’. Isn’t it cool?

The Zenbo will also remind you of basic things in your daily routine like doctor’s appointment, meeting or even social gatherings. It takes proper care of home security as well. It checks who’s at the door via a connected camera and shows you the photo of the person standing out at the door. The Zenbo can be further connected with smart bulbs, TVs, air conditioners and can even turn them off as and when commanded.

Asus’ Zenbo looks very similar to SoftBank Robotics’ Pepper home robot, which can learn and understand human facial expressions and emotions. Check out the video below to find how the Zenbo home robot works.
