HTC 10 clears FCC certification, 2 models spotted ahead of official announcement

HTC’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the ‘HTC 10’ has cleared FCC certification. It is due to launch on April 12 and expected to go on sale starting April 15.

HTC is just 10 days away from unveiling its 2016 flagship smartphone, the HTC 10. While the company will be hosting simultaneous launch events in New York, London and Taipei on April 12, the smartphone is rumored to go on sale starting April 15. To ensure the smartphone is ready to go on sale on time, HTC 10 has cleared the FCC certification.

Interestingly, FCC notes two different models – 2PS6200 and 2PS6500, out of which, one could be the recently rumored Snapdragon 652 powered entry-level variant, whereas the other running on Snapdragon 820 chipset. Unlike other times, FCC hasn’t even disclosed the key specifications and features, due to which details about the HTC 10 still remain a mystery.

HTC has teased its upcoming smartphone on numerous occasions highlighting the ‘World First, World Class’ camera experience, the capacitive touch buttons and physical home button, and more. HTC had also teased a video saying it wants to ‘make your phone even better.’

HTC 10 specifications and features: Based on the numerous leaks and rumors, HTC 10 is likely to feature a 5.2-inch WQHD display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB and 128GB internal storage options with microSD card slot. A recent rumor also pointed to an entry-level HTC 10 running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 processor with 3GB of RAM.

In the camera department, it is likely to sport an upgraded 12-UltraPixel rear camera with laser auto-focus, PDAF and dual tone LED flash, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Both cameras could also come with optical image stabilization. With connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and the USB Type-C port, the HTC 10 could run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS wrapped under HTC’s Sense UI 8.

In terms of pricing, the 16GB variant with Snapdragon 652 processor and 3GB of RAM is expected to be priced at RMB 3,799 (approximately Rs 39,000), whereas the top end 128GB variant with Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM could set you back by RMB 5,888 (approximately Rs 60,500).
