HTC One A9 successor rumored for IFA, still looks like an iPhone

HTC will reportedly unveil a successor to the HTC One A9 on September 1, just in time for IFA 2016 in Berlin, Germany.

While the sound of a new phone is always exciting, the new HTC handset borrows a few cues from a certain competitor – something the elder One A9 did, too.

Not only will the supposed smartphone maintain its noticeable resemblance to the iPhone 6S, but it will also apparently be called the HTC One A9s – similar to Apple’s penchant for adding an “S” to its mid-generation phones, trusted leaker Evan Blass of VentureBeat reports.

Additionally, a leaked image of the One A9s shows a chassis virtually identical to the original One A9, save for an even more iPhone-like placement of the camera and sensors on the front and rear of the handset.

Though little else was offered up, the One A9s’ camera resolutions are reported to be 13 megapixels for the main camera, and five megapixels for the front-facing camera.

Something else worth noting is that the date on the phone’s lock screen is October 14. A shot in the dark, but perhaps this hints at a possible fall release date?

With only a few days before IFA, we have high hopes that HTC will offer up concrete details in time for the big show. We just hope Apple doesn’t come running into the convention hall with a briefcase full of cease-and-desist notices.

Absolute garbage of an article with so much false information. Let's go over them, shall we.

    1. As many others have pointed out, Apple copied HTC with the design, especially at the back with HTC M7 did it first.

    2. Where else can you put the back camera if not near the upper middle, this is like saying where can you place the On button on phones…

    3. HTC had a line of sequel ones with the S tag, they were the sequel to successful phones and did not copy iPhone. See Incredible S, Desire S, Wildfire S. Also HTC One S and HTC Hero S.

The only thing you got right in this article is the comment that Apple is a very litigation happy company, Everything else is pure trash!

    It's possible.

There's only so many ways you can configure a phone so it's bound to tread on some Company's design.

I just don't like the fact that Techradar is blatantly calling it a copy of Apple even when it's evidently not so.

Even so, Apple and HTC have some agreement not to sue each other so yeah, it might be possible it was done in part to piss Apple off.

    If so, well played, HTC!

How could it not look like an iPhone when Apple copied HTC in the first place? Was HTC really supposed to change their own design language just because Apple decided to rip it off?….really?

Err…Apple copied HTC after they had introduced the lines on the outside frame of the phone.

    Selective memory much?

Am I the only one who thinks HTC did this on purpose to goof on Apple.

Since everyone gave them a hard time for the A9 supposedly "looking like an iPhone", why not embrace the BS and release a new version even more "iPhoneish" and add that ridiculous "S" to the end of the name like Apple does (the same old crap with slightly better specs) and gets away with it. And iPhone fans get in line for days to wait for its release and waste another $700 bucks on something that they already have!

    I think HTC was genius to add the "S". It's f _ _ _ ing funny!!‎
