While all eyes will be on the Apple iPhone SE, tonight’s ‘Let’s loop you in’ event is also expected to showcase a new iPad. While Apple was earlier expected to launch the next-generation iPad Air, recent reports suggest that the company will instead by launching a smaller variant of the iPad Pro. With Apple’s event set to kick off at 10:30PM IST tonight, here’s everything you need to know about the Apple iPad Pro 9.7-inch.

As per reports, the upcoming iPad is likely to combine the design of the iPad Air 2 with the features of the bigger iPad Pro. Leaked schematics suggest that the iPad will boast four speakers at each of the corner, and the overall form factor will slightly thicker than the iPad Air 2.

It is also said to feature a display that reports say is ‘noticeably brighter’ than the iPad Air 2. One of the talking points will surely be the support for Apple Pencil, and it will also feature a Smart Connector for pairing with accessories like the Smart Keyboard.

Under the hood, it is expected to be powered by an A9X processor and more RAM than is seen on 9.7-inch iPad models. While most of the features are on par with the bigger iPad Pro, there is one feature on the upcoming 9.7-inch model that is said to be better — the camera.

The smaller iPad Pro is said to feature a 12-megapixel camera with 4K video recording capabilities. This is better than the 8-megapixel snapper found on the iPad Pro, and is actually on par with the iPhone 6s.

According to reports, the iPad Pro 9.7-inch variant will be available in 32GB and 128GB storage variant. The base variant is expected to be priced around $599 (Rs 40,800 approximately), which is a premium of $100 over the iPad Air 2 (16GB Wi-Fi only).
