Leak suggests the Apple iPhone 7 will be thinner and shorter than the iPhone 6s

The iPhone 7 may look like the iPhone 6s, but there will be enough tweaks to keep buyers interested.

The Apple iPhone 7 leaks are showing no signs of slowing down. Recent leaks have become less contrasting, and have painted a picture of what to expect from the upcoming iPhones. The latest leak shows the back side of the iPhone 7 with the tweaked design. A set of leaked schematics also compare the upcoming iPhone to last year’s iPhone 6s.

The spy shot shared by techtastic.nl, shows the rear panel of the iPhone 7 that reiterates the bigger camera module and the redesigned antenna lines. Unlike the iPhone 6s where the antenna lines were clearly visible cutting through the middle, they have now been pushed to the top and bottom edges. The camera lens on the iPhone 7 is much bigger than what was on offer on the iPhone 6s. It has also been moved ever-so-slightly to the left.

While the overall design isn’t drastically different, the schematics prove that there are quite a few differences between the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 6s. As you can see in the image above, the iPhone 7 is slightly shorter and narrower than the iPhone 6s. But it is also a bit thicker than its predecessor.

While consistent with previous leaks, we would still advice a bit of caution. That said, reports claim the iPhone 7 has entered production, which could explain the sudden rise in the number of leaks out of China.

Based on what we have come across so far, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus aren’t likely to be massively different from last year’s iPhones in terms of design. But having said that, there will still be many changes to tempt buyers. For one it is expected to come in a new Space Black color variant, which going by the leaks looks gorgeous.

The iPhone 7 is also expected to come with a better set of cameras, improved processing power, and a home button with Force Touch technology. The iPhone 7 Plus variant, on the other hand, is also expected to come with a dual-camera setup.

Apple is widely expected to ditch the 16GB variant and will use 32GB variant as the base model, and the upcoming iPhones will also be water resistant for the first time. One of the talking points is likely to be the absence of the 3.5mm audio jack, as Apple will use the Lightning port for charging and audio.
