Mother’s Day: Facebook is testing temporary flower emoji reaction

Facebook is gearing up for Mother’s Day with new features and is testing new features to its Messenger app.

With just 24-hours to go for Mother’s Day, Facebook is said to be testing a new reaction – a digital flower ahead of Mother’s Day on May 8 that is tomorrow. According to a report by The Verge, this might be a temporary reaction feature, and users will not able able to use it after Mother’s Day.

“To celebrate Mother’s Day, we are testing the ability for people in a few markets to leave a flower reaction,” the company said in a statement to The Verge. The new reaction however was first spotted by Sreedev Sharma, who posted a picture of the flower on Twitter saying “Facebook testing ‘Thankful’ (flower emoji) reaction? ‘Yay’ and ‘Confused’ are no more,”

This is the first time Facebook is trying a temporary reaction feature. The company has however not confirmed as to where it will make the flower emoji reaction available.

Facebook has also added a new feature to its Messenger app where a flower button appears near the text box for a limited period of time. Tapping the button will activate the feature and your message or photo will be sent with flowers. The company has also made available new Mother’s Day-themed sticker pack for Facebook Messenger.

Earlier this year, Facebook rolled out reaction buttons for its users. Expanding the choices with the new ‘Reactions’ users can now have a button to express Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad or Angry.
