NaMo app lets you send birthday wishes to PM Narendra Modi, get personalized thanks

Want to wish PM Narendra Modi on his birthday today? Here’s how you can by using the NaMo app on your smartphone.

It’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 66th birthday today, and various politicians and dignitaries from around the globe have already sent their greetings via social media. But our PM seems to care as much about wishes from dignitaries as citizens of this country. With that in mind, the NaMo app on iOS, Android and Windows Phone apps have been updated to let users send birthday wishes to Modi. Each birthday wish is also answered with a personalized thank you message. Here’s how it works.

You need the latest NaMo app on either your Android, iOS or Windows Phone, wherein you can swipe from the right to see a new button called ‘Wish the PM’. Clicking on the button will take you to the next page where you can choose to upload a personal photo with a message or choose from an existing Modi photo from the app’s gallery and add a personal message on it. Once you have sent your message, you will receive a personalized thank you video message from none other than Narendra Modi himself. The following video gives you a quick tour on how to use the NaMo app to send a birthday greeting to the PM.

Modi kicked off his birthday by visiting his mother in Gujarat, and since morning, the social media savvy leader has been bombarded with greetings on various platforms. He’s received messages from dignitaries like President Pranab Mukherjee, Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani, and Rahul Gandhi, and sportspersons like Saina Nehwal, Virender Sehwag and boxer Vijender Singh. Even the likes of Apple CEO Tim Cook joined in to wish Modi on his birthday.

It is heartening to see how despite the busy day, Modi is trying to respond to as many birthday wishes as possible with a thank you in Hindi or English. Since the time of the elections, Modi has effectively used the social media platforms to connect with citizens. He has even urged other politicians to leverage the reach of social media to communicate with citizens across the country. The social media savvy PM is among the third-most followed world leader on Twitter, and is also said to be among the 30 most influential people on the Internet.
