Nokia phone saves a man’s life by stopping a bullet

Is your smartphone bulletproof? No, don’t even think of trying to test it, especially if you don’t use a Nokia phone.

Nokia may no longer be the world’s top handset brand, but the brand and its phones are still missed. Many get nostalgic while talking about the Nokia phones, commending their sturdiness, unlike the fragile smartphones of the modern era. Internet is abuzz about a Nokia phone that saved a man’s life in Afghanistan by stopping a bullet. Microsoft executive Peter Skillman shared a picture of what appears to be a badly damaged Nokia smartphone after taking the bullet. The phone is obviously is no working condition, but what’s interesting that it survived the bullet, and saved user’s life.

Peter Skillman’s tweet reads, “A Nokia phone I worked on a few years ago saved the life of a man in Afghanistan last week. The embedded bullet.” The picture attached clearly shows a bullet hitting right in the screen of the phone, passing through it and getting stuck in it. Both the front and back sides of the phone are shown in the image. The back panel of the phone has the Nokia logo, confirming that it is after all a Nokia phone. Though, there’s no information about when the incident took place, who was the person shot at, and which Nokia model it was. Peter Skillman admits he has no information about the man whose life is claimed to be saved by the phone. Nevertheless, the image looks quite compelling.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that a Nokia phone has saved someone’s life by dodging a bullet. A case similar to this but with more proof happened back in 2014 with a Brazilian police officer. The 24-year-old police officer had kept his Nokia Lumia 520 smartphone in his back pocket and was later caught in the middle of a robbery at his house. While the robber fired shots at the police officer and one was aimed at his behind. The bullet instead got stuck in the Lumia 520 smartphone and did not enter his behind saving from a fatal injury.

Another incident further adding to the glory of Nokia phones saving lives comes from the popular website 9GAG. This incident was reported way back in 2012, wherein a Nokia X2 saved a man’s life in Syria by yet again, dodging a bullet. The Nokia X2 user was filming an ongoing fight between the rebels and the military in Syria, where he was caught between a crossfire. The said person was holding the Nokia X2 in front of his face and as a bullet flew toward him, it got stuck in the phone and he left without a scratch. 9GAG assures that this is a true story.

Nokia began its reputation of selling indestructible phones back when its feature phones were ruling the market. The most popular one being the Nokia 3310 phone, which was released late 2000. Considered as one of the best selling phones of all time, Nokia in 2005 had said that the company sold 136 million units of the Nokia 3310 phone. What joined the Nokia 3310 later was the Nokia 1100 phone which was joked about saying that it could only be destroyed in the fires of Mordor (A volcano in the fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings), and the Nokia 3310 was named “the Witch King”, from the same epic as well.
