OnePlus 3 images leaked, reveal slim metal body and Oxygen 3.0 : Specifications, features

Latest leaked images of the OnePlus 3 reveal the metallic back panel of the smartphone. Does it mean OnePlus has finally ditched the sandstone back panel?

OnePlus is soon going to launch its next flagship smartphone, called the OnePlus 3. Thanks to several leaks, we already know that the new OnePlus flagship smartphone is likely to come with a new design and better features as compared to the OnePlus 2. Now, new images of the OnePlus 3 have leaked online, giving a closer look at the new OnePlus flagship smartphone.

According to the leaked images, the fingerprint scanner is located at the bottom of the front panel. The fingerprint scanner is likely to double up as the home button. The phone looks quite slim and has a large speaker grille above the front camera. The images also reveal the smartphone runs Oxygen 3.0 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. On the back, the smartphone has a large camera set up on the center including a flash.

The images also hint that the OnePlus 3 ditches OnePlus’ traditional sandstone back and embraces metallic body. It may be recalled that the OnePlus X had a metal body in order to give a premium look to the device. Though, OnePlus’ sandstone back is also quite popular.

The OnePlus 3 is rumored to come with 5.5-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The new OnePlus 3 is expected to launch in two variants — 4GB of RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, and 6GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage.

On the photography front, the OnePlus 3 is going to have a 16-megapixels rear camera and an 8-megapixels front camera along with Optical Image stabilization and fast focus capabilities. It will also include a physical shutter button for the camera. Also, the phone will support NFC technology which consumers had missed in the OnePlus 2.

As far as the battery is concerned, the OnePlus 3 will come with a 3,500 mAh cell instead of the 3,300mAh on the OnePlus 2. The OnePlus 3 is likely to support fast charging, and may have the Dash Charge technology, which the company recently patented. The Dash Charge is said to be equivalent to Oppo’s VOOC and Qualcomm’s Fast Charge technology. Other big rumor is that the OnePlus 3 will come with an iris scanner along with the fingerprint scanner.
