Priced at Rs 11,980, Vivo Y51L launched in India; smartphone offers 5-inch display, 8MP camera, 2GB RAM

The Vivo Y51L priced at Rs 11,980 has been launched in India with the Chinese phonemaker looking to strengthen its position in the growing affordable smartphone market in India.

The Vivo Y51L comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display and the company promises a powerful performance, smoother operation.

The Vivo Y51L runs on Android-Lolliop and its entrails are powered by Snapdragon 410 processor and it comes with 2 GB RAM. Also, it packs a 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB with the help of a microSD card.

On the camera front, the Vivo Y51L smartphone comes with a 8-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Y51L smartphone is packed with a 2,350mAh battery and it supports 2G, 3G, 4G Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.

Last year vivo introduced its Y-series by launching several major models including Y27L, Y31 and Y15S priced from Rs 6,000 to 13,000. With Y51L this year, Vivo expects to grow its marketshare reasonably in India.

The Y51L has been assembled in Vivo’s recently launched assembly plant in Greater Noida. Interestingly it also happens to be one of the first major model of 2016 from the company.

Vivo claims that Y51L offers seamless performance with multiple functions and easy switch between the apps at a fast pace.

“The affordable segment is the growth driver, as the young generation today looks for a phone which is best in features, beautiful in design and is priced competitively. Last year, we witnessed huge sales and positive demand for products in the budget range across markets, which boosted us to launch the Y51L,” Alex Feng, CEO, vivo India said in a statement.

Vivo entered India in late 2014 and currently it is serving Indian customers with 8,000 employees and 10,000 retailers, in almost 400 cities in 22 states. The company is also a title sponsor for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
