Samsung Galaxy Note7 official photos, specifications and price leaked

In what seems like a mega leak, @onLeaks has revealed the biggest trove of official press photos of the Galaxy Note7 and the next generation Gear VR headset, leaving nothing to the imagination ahead of the August 2 global launch event.

The Galaxy Note7 is one of the most anticipated phablets and leaks about the device started months ahead of the official launch event, which takes place on August 2. While yesterday we saw a Redditor with proven Samsung track record conduct an AMA session to talk about everything he know about the Galaxy Note7, today we have @onleaks releasing a bunch of official press renders that leave very little to the imagination.

The leak reveals all press photos of the Galaxy Note7 in black, silver and blue variants. The blue variant is different and the most appealing with a gold bezel. The Galaxy Note7 will only come in one variant, with curved edge display. The redditor had earlier mentioned that the edge is less pronounced than on the Galaxy S7 and is more comfortable to hold.

Samsung Galaxy Note7 specifications

According to Nowherelese.fr, the Galaxy Note7 will have dimensions of 153.5×73.9×7.9 mm and will weigh 169 grams. In comparison, the Galaxy Note 5 had dimensions of 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm and weighed 171 grams. This suggests the Galaxy Note7 would be marginally narrower, which could be the result of the curved edge display and the lack of a side bezel. The Galaxy Note7 would have an IP68 rating, making it water and dust resistant. The publication also claims that the phablet would have a glass back like the Galaxy S7.

Other Galaxy Note7 specifications include a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD display, 4GB RAM, and the same processor variants as available on the Galaxy S7. The phablet would have the same 12-megapixel Dual Pixel f/1.7 rear camera and 5-megapixel front facing camera as the Galaxy S7, which isn’t a bad thing considering the Galaxy S7 has one of the finest cameras on any smartphone available currently.

The leak also confirms the presence of USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner, iris scanner, 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded by another 256GB using a microSD card and a 3,500mAh battery. The Galaxy Note7 will also come with an improved S-Pen, which now comes with 4,096 levels of pressure and a latency of less than 50 milliseconds, which means the experience would be similar to writing on paper with a pen.

In the reddit AMA leak, it was suggested that the S-Pen would get a few feature enhancements like users would be able to use it to translate words by hovering over them or mark areas in a video to create GIFs. Users will also be able to use the S-Pen under water, or in other words Samsung has ensured that the Galaxy Note7 retain its water resistance even if the S-Pen is removed.

Samsung Galaxy Note7 price

The publication also suggests that the Galaxy Note7 will be priced at Euro 850 (Rs 63,300 approximately) in France. It will be interesting to see how Samsung prices it in India, considering it went pretty aggressive last year by launching the Galaxy Note 5 at Rs 53,900.

Apart from the Galaxy Note7, the publication also offers the first look at the new Gear VR headset that will be launched along with the phablet. Considering the Galaxy Note7 is the first Samsung smartphone to come with a USB Type-C port, the old Gear VR headset won’t work with it. The new one is slightly bigger and supports USB Type-C. It also offers a wider angle of vision (110 degrees compared to 96 degrees on the first generation Gear VR).

The Galaxy Note7 is likely to go on pre-order soon after the unveiling on August 2 and will be available a couple of weeks later. The Gear VR, meanwhile, will go on sale in September.
