Samsung Galaxy On7 (2016) with 3,300mAh battery clears FCC certification

Samsung looks all set to launch the next-generation Galaxy On7 (2016) with slightly upgraded specifications. Here’s what we know about it.

We have come across multiple leaks around the Samsung Galaxy On5 (2016) and Galaxy On7 (2016), which are the successors to the 2015 variants of Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7. Both the smartphones were recently spotted on Indian import website Zauba and Chinese regulatory website TENAA, which revealed some of their details. While there is still no word on a launch date, one of the smartphones – the Galaxy On7 (2016) – has now been confirmed by the FCC. The listing reveals some key specifications of the smartphone.

The listing spotted by timesnews.co.uk bears the model numbers SM-G610F/DD and SM-G610F/DS which confirms that there will be a dual-SIM variant of the Galaxy On7 (2016). Another document also confirms that the smartphone will have a 3,300mAh battery, which is 10 percent bigger than the Galaxy On7 (2015) which has a 3,000mAH battery. The documents also confirm that the device name will be Galaxy On7 (2016).

According to the listing, the device will measure 151.5mm x 74.9mm × 8.0 mm and connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11b / 802.11g / 802.11n (HT20), Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct (Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz), 4G LTE (FDD Band 5), Bluetooth v4.1 LE connectivity options. However the document reveals no other specifications about this device.

Earlier this month, both the device were spotted on TENAA and according to the listing on TENAA, both the Galaxy On5 (2016) and Galaxy On7 (2016) will look quite similar. They seem to sport a metallic body with the power button on the right and the volume rocker on the left. Below the volume buttons are two slots for the SIM and microSD cards. The listing also reveals that both devices will have a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button.

From what we know so far, the Galaxy On7 (2016) will feature a 5.5-inch TFT Full-HD display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution, 2GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Also on offer will be 32GB inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

On the camera front, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear LED flash camera with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It is backed up by a 3,300mAh battery and connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth, USB, GPS and Wi-Fi with FM Radio as well. It will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box.

On the other hand, Samsung is also said to launch the Galaxy On5 (2016) along with the Galaxy On7 (2016). The smartphone will be available in gold, rose gold, black and metallic gold color.

The Galaxy On5 (2016) is said to feature 5-inch HD TFT display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

On the camera front, it will sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It is backed up by a 2,600mAh battery and comes with connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Bluetooth, USB, GPS and Wi-Fi. The smartphone will run on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out-of-the-box.
