Samsung Galaxy S9 reveal date at CES 2018 may wow you even if its design doesn’t

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus may be revealed sooner than anyone had anticipated before today, according to a new report.

Both 2018 Samsung flagship smartphones are being readied for a surprise CES 2018 tease, reports VentureBeat, making for an early January cameo.

Whether or not we see what the S9 and S9 Plus look like in January remains a mystery. But they’re said to look almost identical to last year’s phones with 5.8- and 6.2-inch screens.

Changes are said to include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, AKG stereo speakers (finally) and a better fingerprint sensor location under the camera – not off to the side. The Galaxy S9 Plus may also get a second rear camera, just like the Note 8.

Expect the same Samsung Galaxy S9 release date

Just because we may see the Samsung Galaxy S9 at CES 2018 doesn’t mean the phone will come out any sooner than it did last year. It’s just a tease.

Samsung briefly teased the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus during MWC 2017 last February. Its seems to be doing that all over again one month sooner this year and not waiting for MWC 2018.

We fully expect a routine March 2018 launch event and April Samsung Galaxy S9 release date, even with this tease of a tease. After all, early adopters of the S8 and S7 will have their phone contracts end around April, so Samsung will likely usher in its new phone when everyone is up for renewal.
