Sunny Leone turns author with Juggernaut, new e-books app launched for Android

Besides Sunny Leone’s new book, you can catch up with over 150 book titles as well as 99 authors. You can also get your books published through the Juggernaut app.

Those who love to read on their mobile devices mostly prefer Amazon’s Kindle or rely on Google Play books or Apple’s iBooks. Then there are plenty of e-books apps for Android and iOS devices. Juggernaut is the new kid in the block and is dedicated to the Indian audiences as well as writers. It has just launched its first application for Android, and has already created a lot of buzz with its association with film actress Sunny Leone, who debuts as an author on the platform.

Sunny Leone’s first book is titled Sweet Dreams, which will be released in seven parts. The book is priced at Rs 49.50. Juggernaut promises to launch each part at 10:00pm. The book has so far received 4 out of 5 ratings.
Besides Sunny Leone, authors like William Dalrymple and former McKinsey chief Rajat Gupta are a few top names to be part of the new publishing platform. Juggernaut aims to help more Indians read books as well as encourage them to write.

The platforms claims to offer fresh, original books tailored for mobile and for the Indian readers with price starting as low as Rs 10. Right now the app claims to have over 150 books and 99 authors. For payment of books, Juggernaut has tied up with Paytm e-wallet as well. There are a bunch of free e-books as well.

You can download the Juggernaut app from Google Play store right now. An iOS version will be launched soon.

Juggernaut has been founded by female entrepreneurs Chiki Sarkar and Durga Ragunath. Chiki Sarkar is a former publisher and worked editor-in-chief of Penguin Random House in India. Durga Ragunath has also worked with several digital media platforms in the country. Currently, the company has 24 employees.

Co-founder and former CEO of Infosys Nandan Nilekani, Managing Director of Fabindia William Bissell and Neeraj Aggarwal CEO of Boston Consulting Group in India have invested in the company. The list of advisors include Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder of Paytm and Pratap Bhanu Mehta, President of the Centre for Policy Research.
