The Nvidia Titan X graphics card is back and irresponsibly overpowered

Nvidia been on a tear introducing new graphics card and while it’s been fun with a surprisingly powerful GTX 1080 and GTX 1060, the card we’ve all been waiting for is finally here.

Nvidia just announced its next generation Titan X featuring 3,584 CUDA cores operating at 1.53GHz – that’s a big step up from the 1.08GHz 1,072 CUDA cores found in the last generation Titan X. Equipped with Nvidia’s latest generation 12GB of GDDR5X RAM and 12-billion transistors, and this GPU runs at a bristling 11 teraflops.

The graphics card maker claims the new Titan X is 60% faster than last generation. That’ said it’ll take a decent chunk out of your wallet with a price tag of $1,200 (about £907, AU$1,605) for the Founders Edition coming directly from Nvidia.

As with all the other recent Pascal-based releases, the Nvidia made Founders Edition cards are often more expensive, so we expect GPUs from third party makers will run closer to a grand or less.

The Nvidia Titan X releases on August 2 and you can bet we’ll be reviewing this bad boy soon.

Per Anandtech: "Meanwhile for distribution, making a departure from previous generations, the card is only being sold directly by NVIDIA through their website. The company’s board partners will not be distributing it, though system builders will still be able to include it."

Very tempted to build a rig with several of these in, though the 12GB limit is still the major stumbling block for me.
