This bag is the new color-changing dress, and it’s quite close to breaking the internet

After the incessant obsession on the color of ‘The Dress’, the internet is now trying to guess the color of this Kate Spade bag. Blue, grey or white, what do you see?

Remember the dress last year that got every one crazy guessing its color? White and gold, blue and black, it divided the internet over the optical illusion. Twitter was flooded with tweets under the hashtag #TheDress, and for a full one week that was all the internet talked about. Well, that freaky color-changing dress is now back to haunt the internet, but this time in the form of a Kate Spade bag. And Twitter can not stop talking about #MyBag. People are unable to decide if this 2016 Cedar Street Hayden is a blue or white. In fact, there are some who are calling it grey too.

Two days ago, Taylor F Corso from Jackson, Mississippi, tweeted a photo of her new Kate Spade handbag, presumingly only to share her excitement. However, Corso was at the center of another rainbow ruckus, with some people complimenting her on her white purse, and others on her blue bag. Even though Corso told people her bag was blue, but how would they believe her when they saw a white bag. Eventually, in no time, her new bag began being circulated all over the internet, and so came up the #MyBag hashtag.

Also, if you check up the online catalogue on the Kate Spade website, the bag manufacturer does declare the color of the bag as ‘Mystic blue’, but then again, it’s the internet. However, Corso herself calls the bag slightly “greyish blue.”

Then, there were also some people who suspected Corso’s intentions behind sharing the picture of her bag. People accused Corso of intentionally setting up the photo with an aim of going viral, many of those tweets, however, have since been deleted.

The instance of an optical illusion taking over all the people on the internet is no longer a rare occurrence. And to be honest, they are actually a lot of fun. We of course all know about the dress, which actually start the trend of color-changing optical illusion images. It had all started by with innocent Tumblr user’s post, who was having a healthy debate with her friends over the color of the dress. What followed was a serious deconstruction of the dress by netizens, journalists, and graphic nerds.

Even recently, a 12 dots optical illusion had the internet awkwardly staring at their computer and mobile screens for hours. The image was basically multiple grey lines intersecting into each other, set against a white background. On the nodes of intersection of these lines were 12 dots, however, most people were unable to see all 12 dots at the same time. And that had the social media go nuts!

Another unforgettable one was an image of a cat on a fleet of stairs which the became the talk of the town, as the internet could not make up their mind if it was walking up or down. The picture at its confusing best had architecture enthusiasts, curious minds and internet addicts pouring over the image to answer the big important question – Is the cat going up or down?
