Xiaomi Mi Note 2 specifications leaked and it could finally launch in India

Xiaomi could not launch its MediaTek chipset powered Mi Note in India due to its ongoing patent royalty litigation with Ericsson in India. However, the Mi Note 2 could feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 chipset, which means it could finally launch in India.

The Xiaomi Mi Note which was released in China more than a year ago is long due for an upgrade and seems like the company is already working on its successor, the Mi Note 2. Due to the company’s patent infringement lawsuit with Ericsson, Xiaomi could not launch the MediaTek powered smartphone in India. However, with a new leak pointing to a Qualcomm chipset under the hood, Xiaomi may finally bring the Mi Note 2 smartphone to India.

A couple of weeks ago, we came across a report stating that the smartphone could feature Galaxy S7 edge-like curved display. Now, a tipster on Weibo sheds some light on the specifications and features of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. According to the leak, the smartphone could feature a 5.7-inch QHD curved edge display, with Apple iPhone 6s-like pressure sensitive 3D Touch display. Under the hood, the Mi Note 2 could either be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 or Snapdragon 823 processor with 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

With internal storage of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB, the tipster hints at a possible 256GB variant too. Other leaked details also point to Sony’s 16-megapixel IMX298 sensor with optical image stabilization, a 3,600mAh battery with fast charging feature. From the leaks, the Mi Note 2 does seem to pack impressive set of specifications, but we will have to wait until Xiaomi officially announces the smartphone.

In comparison, the Xiaomi Mi Note features a 5.7-inch full HD (1080p) display. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB / 64GB internal storage options. The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS and dual tone LED flash and a 4-megapixel front-facing camera.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth. Along with the Mi Note, Xiaomi had also launched the Mi Note Pro variant with a 2K display, Snapdragon 810 processor and 4GB of RAM.
